At Knowledge Edge, Professor Al-Alusi brings a rare combination of institutional leadership and quality assurance expertise, built across more than three decades of higher education work spanning seven countries. Before entering academia, he spent fourteen years in the construction industry — an unusual and valuable grounding for the operational, from-the-ground-up institution-building work that would define his academic career.

He has held the full span of university leadership roles: founding Dean of the College of Management and Information Systems at Ittihad University, UAE, before progressing to Vice Chancellor for Quality Affairs and then Chancellor & CEO — taking the institution from concept to a functioning, accredited university, and later serving on its Board of Trustees. He went on to serve as President & CEO of Emirates College for Management and Information Technology, Dean of the College of Security and Global Studies at the American University in the Emirates, and Visiting Professor at Coventry University’s Business Improvement Centre in the UK.

His particular distinction is in quality assurance and institutional research. As founding Director of Planning, Evaluation & Quality Administration at Ittihad University, he built an institutional research system commended by an official Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) Visiting Committee report as \”very impressive,\” with results described as \”highly commendable.\” He holds comprehensive, hands-on experience across multiple international accreditation frameworks, including the UAE’s CAA, Bahrain’s Education & Training Quality Authority (BQA), Oman’s Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA), and the AACSB and SACSCOC standards — alongside working knowledge of UK and Australian quality systems.

He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Quality Institute (UK), a listed international Quality Assurance consultant with the Asia-Pacific Quality Network, and a member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE). His leadership has been recognised with multiple international awards, including Education Leadership Awards from the World Leadership Congress and Golden Globe Tigers, and the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education from the World Chancellors & Vice Chancellors Congress. He continues to supervise PhD candidates, including at UK universities, and works as a management, academic, and QA consultant internationally.
